I was giving thought to some of these the other day and decided to post them here – in no particular order – for review and consideration by all. Some are rather materialistic, but I too find myself taking too much for granted from time-to-time.
My top 10 “A” list:
• Family time during the holidays
• The Christmas day turkey cooked to perfection
• 15 year old clothes that still fit
• Thick wool socks on cold winter days
• Enjoying daybreak – before sunrise – in the springtime
• Watching a beautiful sunset in late fall with good friends and a cocktail in hand
• Making an eagle on any golf hole
• The Sunday morning newspaper with a fresh pot of coffee and…
• The time to enjoy both without interruption
My top 10 “B” list (comfort items):
• When I plug-in the Christmas lights for the 1st time since last year, and they all glow
• A car engine that starts every time
• The spot-free rinse mode at the car wash
• That smooth ride from a new set of quality tires
• My universal remote, which I wouldn’t enjoy the convenience of if it weren’t for…
• Electricity, which also provides me with…
• Cold air conditioning on hot Texas summer nights
• Hot water on demand, thanks to…
• Reliable utilities services
While I contemplated listing things like fast, always-on Internet connections, the personal computer, the cell phone, the fact is they’re just too high-maintenance to make either of my lists.
